If you haven't yet heard of Valentino's latest shoe project, you should aim to get a pair in your Christmas stocking: they are that delectable and lustworthy. Comprised of just ten designs, the Timestrings line of artisanal footwear for women is quintessential Valentino: demure, well-crafted and ladylike - with an edge.
The name of the collection references the time and savoir-faire taken to craft a Valentino object: the time taken to design, produce and perfect a commodity truly worthy of to be regarded of as luxury.
Headed by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, the new Valentino shoe collection is experimental and almost avant-garde in approach: with Timestrings, numerology is the predominant theme, with each shoe being identified by a string of handwritten numbers inside the sole that replaces the name and describes the overall production time.
The ten pairs of shoes reference iconic Valentino motifs: flowers, lace and the color red, rearranged in startling and often ingenious ways. A Plexiglas wedge heel, for instance, is matched with the must sumptuous and solid of velvets, symbolising the clarity of day and the dark romance of night. Tiny bows also decorate grid-like booties, a mix of naughty and nice - shoes are, after all, an erotic tool of seduction.
Ladies, mark your calendars: the Valentino Timestrings collection will be available in Singapore boutiques starting mid December, and will only be available in extremely limited quantities.
